This is the wand that we (uhhh..... MOM) made at the Tea Party! Much more challenging than meets the eye! But, now I've learned a new craft, working with beads! Those are slippery little rascals!
Next up, the girls made princess crowns for the teddy bears (which we didn't bring because we were too busy having a little temper tantrum over what dress to wear, so the teddy bear got left behind.) Posted by Picasa

And finally, the girls all decorated a picture frame as a keepsake for a picture of them at the Tea Party. Whew.... that was a busy two hours, but I'm so glad that Briley and I enjoyed the time together. I hope this is something she will remember doing with Girl Scouts when she is older.

Now for your viewing pleasure, a brief glimpse of ME.... taken by a 7 year old. I don't guarantee how long I will let this picture stay, but here it is:

Teddy Bear Tea Party

So we put on our fancy dresses, we went to the Tea Party, we had tea and cookies with raised pinkies, we made a few crafty things and we had a GREAT Time! I'm not too sure that Briley will be quite interested in doing another Tea Party again in the future because when I asked her if she would like to have a tea party for her birthday coming up in May... her response was, "I'm not really a Tea Party kind of girl!".... So I guess that means 'no'?

I warned you...I'm playing with my digital camera and the software. I have learned just enough to be very dangerous! This is a really cool picture of Bailey and her BFF. They went on a camping trip together this past fall and the original photo was in color with a full background. After a little bit of tweeking I came up with this. I really like the way it turned out. Now if I could just figure out how to do some graphics.... oh well.. give me time ~ I'll get that learned as soon as I can find time to sit down, sit still and focus. I guess if I wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel while I'm at work, it might be more beneficial for me! LOL

Oh! I almost forgot to mention this ~ Saturday Briley and her Brownie Troop are having a Teddy Bear Tea where they get to dress up and have tea and cookies, with games and various other little girl stuff - so don't miss the pictures on Monday! This should be a great time for anyone under the age of 7 and I'm going to be there to record these precious memories with my new camera! I think I'm more excited than Briley is! :)

Okay... we aren't cruel and unusual parents! LOL This is Al trying to teach Briley how to catch the softball using her glove and developing her hand-eye coordination. I'm sure this is only the beginning of many, many more front yard sessions between the two of them. Al is coaching Briley's softball team this year and instead of playing another year of T-Ball, she wanted to play coach-pitch. I'll keep you posted as to how well she does. Last year, we didn't even finish the season, she was bored with it by the third or fourth game! Maybe it will be more fun if her Dad is the coach?

Developing my photog skills....

Okie Dokie, I've decided to start evolving my photography skills and I'm going to start playing with my fancy-schmancy camera. You've been warned! There are lots more pictures to come and as I learn new skills and tricks, I'll be sure to share them with you.

Who would have ever imagined...

that this 'mut' would offer so much companionship to my mother and my kids! We are not 'indoor' dog people, but my mother felt that she was lonely and needed a companion, so she decided that she would get a Shih Tzu puppy. Little did we all realize that this dog would become such a huge part of our family. This precious puppy is named Oliver! I have to admit that he is a very sweet puppy and is truly devoted to my mother and the girls. Oliver has become a traveling companion for my mother and even my grandmother enjoys it when he comes to visit her... it's the craziest thing I've ever seen. Who knew a dog would bring so much joy to all of us....

If you're interested in having one of your own... check out this site.... http://www.jb-kennels.com/ Jennifer's puppies are the cutest!

A bright and sunshiny welcome to.....

Finally it is officially here! We've celebrated Easter, the clocks have been turned foward and the cold weather is gone! I am so excited to get busy with softball games and longer evenings filled with extra hours of sunlight! I NEED the sun! I NEED the longer days! I NEED Spring!

Each year I have big plans for my flowerbeds and my planting extravaganza around the yard, well - not this year! I've decided that since we aren't even home enough to really enjoy my labors in the yard, I'm going to just be happy with my low maintenance shrubs and maybe a few hanging baskets. I'll gladly watch my cannas grow and bloom and I'll even encourage and fertilize my lovely fig tree, but that is it. I just can't justify spending so much money on my usual bedding plants and hanging baskets and then it just takes a week or two of the North Texas winds or about 6 weeks in the North Texas heat, and it's all gone! Dead, crispy, and looking pitiful. It's just too painful for me to endure another year! Maybe one of these days when I'm not running around chasing kids to and from their social activities, I can enjoy my yard and my plants, but for now I'm convinced that it just isn't meant to be! I'm going to be happy sitting on my porch in my rocking chair and watching the kids as they ride their bikes, 4-wheelers, go karts, and whatever other motorized thing they turn up with. WELCOME to Spring!

It's Friday....... More of the same boring work I've been doing all week - BUT.... this week seems to have drug on forever. I think it was because our usual schedule has been interrupted from Spring Break and it just seems like the whole week has been wonky!
So...this weekend we are still trying to decide what we are going to do for Easter. I'm trying to convince my husband that we need to take a trip to his Dad's so the girls can fish and just enjoy a relaxing weekend at the lake house? But... we'll see.... it's a two hour drive and gas prices are outragious, so I'm not sure what we are going to opt for.

Saturday morning is the LAST Girl Scout cookie booth sale for our troop and by Noon on Saturday, this momma is done with the cookies! Whatever doesn't sell the other leader can take and peddle on the street corner - I'm done!!! DONE... DONE... DONE...!!! Any questions? LOL I hope everyone has a great Easter - it has come so early that I'm just completely taken by surprise and we haven't even put out our Easter docorations - oh well ?

Do you see it?

Posted by PicasaThis is absolute determination!!! This is the first year that Bailey has competed in Track and Field events and I must say that I am very proud of her for being so gutsy to try something that could be so PAINFUL! I mean... think about it... that's a hard and rough track - ohhhh.... what that could do to those precious knees? OUCH!!! As determined as she looks in this picture, she seems to think her real talent is in the Pole Vault and the High Jump events, I guess time will tell? She finished 5th in this race, but luckily there were more than 5 competing! LOL

Too Cute...

Isn't this the cutest little Browni Girl Scout you've ever seen? Well.... I think so!!! My little munchkin is just growing up too fast. I can't believe that we are almost finished with FIRST grade.... ahhh... where has the year gone? We're just about finished with our first year of Brownies as well and finishing up our cookie sales. This is a picture of her working on a Sand-Art project for her patches. Such a cutie... I could just squeeze those cheeks all day - oh wait - I do!!!

One Day of Winter - In Texas!!

Well here it is... in all it's glory!!! SNOW in Texas in March!!! Can you believe it? I can't!!!
Oh well, the good news is that it only lasted a day and then we were back to our warm and sunny usual March weather. Oh by the way, this is the view from my back porch - YES - I know... We live in the BOONIES!!! The country .... way... way.... way.... out.... too far from civilization, for my likes! But what 's a girl to do? I just live here! LOL
